Mode 1 this mode connects the shift position with automatic door locking but notably not unlocking.
Shifting does not lock doors.

Turn the ignition from the 3 on to the 1 off lock position.
Close all doors below door switch off 2.
Step 2 mode 2 cancels the automatic locking and unlocking function so that they do not operate at any time.

If your doorknob mechanism fails internally you can t repair it.

It has power door locks that engage automagically at 10mph or so.
This function is set to on before delivery.

Looking through the manual it s not really clear by the wording if they should or shouldn t.
If you have the option to cancel this option and lock the doors manually then you know the signal input wire s have loose connection and are the culprits.
